Art
The art program at GHCS introduces the students in the first through eighth grades to many of the concepts of art. These classes are held once per week. The program includes artistic perception such as observational skills as well as creative expression. The main focus each week includes some or all of the elements of art. All grades participate in age-appropriate projects that are designed to be challenging and to develop a sense of accomplishment in the students. Projects include basic drawing, collage, painting, and perspective drawing. We also participate in the ACSI Art Festival. Kindergarten and first grade do not participate in the school-wide art program as their art is incorporated into their curriculum.
Library
At GHCS, we have our own library stocked with over 4,300 books in various genres for our students to enjoy. Classes are brought to the library weekly where students can check books out for reports, research, or just for fun!
Field Trips
From the pumpkin patch to 49er Camp, to the zoo to Washington DC, each grade participates in age-appropriate field trips to promote and enhance their curriculum.
